In 2009, we successful developed the self-sealing technology and registered the H2OStop brand. The main feature is:

Superb air-permeability in dry conditions, self-sealed once contacting water.

The same year, we applied H2OStop® Self-sealing technology into medical area, and developed small self-sealing filters.

In 2013, we developed filters for peripheral venous catheters to improve the performance of venous transfusion and lower the risk of hospital-acquired infection.

In 2016, we optimized the pore structure of shut-off valves for disposable suction liners, which have significantly achieve to more cost-saving and easy-to-use suction bags through being applied in our self-sealing filters.

What Is a Self-Sealing Filter?

Self-Sealing_Filters_3

Self-sealing filters are made by embedding a water-swellable polymer into porous structure of sintered PE filters. Under dry conditions, the water-swellable polymer shrinks, and air pathways within porous PE structure are open, keeping a good air permeability. Once contacted with aqueous solution, the water-swellable polymer swells very quickly and fills the porous PE structure, leading to clogged air pathways and preventing solution from flowing through the filter.

Due to their superb air-permeability / water-blocking feature, H2OStop self-sealing filters have been widely used in biological and medical fields.

Now, H2OStop® self-sealing filters consist of two product family: the medium-size filters mainly used in disposable suction liners, and the small-size filters mainly used in blood sampling and intravenous therapy.

Disposable suction liners are widely used in waste liquid management systems in hospitals.

H2OStop® Self-sealing filters for disposable suction liners, allows air get through the suction liner freely. Once touch the liquid, it will act the self-sealing effect to prevent the liquid overflowing and liquid polluting instrument and environment.

H2OStop® Filters for Arterial Blood Samplers

In clinic blood sampling, H2OStop® self-sealing filters working with arterial blood samplers can simplify blood sampling procedure, prevent air from contacting blood sample and avoid gas exchange between air and blood.

H2OStop® Filters for ESR Pipettes

ESR testing is one of routing clinical tests. In clinic practice, a disposable ESR pipette is use to measure the descending distance of erythrocytes in a period of one hour, and the resulting ESR is useful in diagnosing some diseases. H2OStop® self-sealing filters allow for convenient ESR testing.

H2OStop® Filters for Peripheral Venous Catheters

Intravenous therapy using a peripheral venous catheter (PVC) is a widely used route of administration in clinical practice where any residual air should be excluded from inside the catheter. Excluding air bubbles is complicated and time-consuming, usually causing medication spilling and ground contamination, if using traditional PVC. Medication (particularly antibiotics) exposed in air may lead to antibiotic resistance and other issues.

H2OStop self-sealing filters work with peripheral venous catheters to simplify excluding air bubbles, ensuring one-time successful rate of near 100%, and effectively prevent medication from spilling.

H2OStop® FilterS for IV Catheters
